I salute my little brother SPC. Salvatore James Galgano Jr. Standing 6′5 you may initially be intimidated by Sal. Give him 1 minute and you would be captivated by him. With his sense of humor, Sal always is always the center of attention and the life of every party, yet somehow remains modest and humble. Caring, loyal and genuine are few words to describe him. Sal gave me the title of an older sister but makes me feel like a younger sister every day. I am amazed at how much I continue to learn from him. Sal is a great friend, protector, inspiration and someone who I am honored to call my little brother. His family anxiously awaits his safe return from Afghanistan to celebrate the Holidays with him. We all love you and miss you Sal!!!! Love your big, little sister, – Marie Bodensick - Atlanta, Georgia Posted by: Salute to Troops Posted: 11:51 AM ET
This picture is of my brother, Tyler Hartshorn, a member of the 1 4 Infantry. He is stationed at an undisclosed location in Afghanistan. This picture was taken by another soldier without his knowledge, and gives me hope. Everytime I miss him, I look at this picture and see all the good that he, and all of our troops & soldiers are doing and it brings me peace. I just want to give a BiG “thank you” to all of our brave men & women. Thank you, and God Bless the USA. And if you see this Tyler, know that you are loved and missed more than words could say! We can’t wait to see you back home! – Morgan Hartshorn - Lincoln, North Carolina Posted by: Salute to Troops Posted: 11:48 AM ET

I would like to Salute Our hero SSG. Harvest. He has been deployed to Iraq 3 times. 5 total deployments. Our son was born during this last deployment to Iraq. He was 4 months old when they met. I am honored to be his wife. He fights for our wonderful country and our family. Not everyone gets to marry their hero, but I did. I stand tall by my husband for I am a proud Army Wife. As long as he’s willing to walk the walk. I will be with him hand in hand. It’s not always easy, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! Thanks for allowing me the time to share our Hero with you. – Misty Harvest - El Paso, Texas Posted by: Salute to Troops Posted: 06:37 AM ET

My husband PV2 Joshua Bohling is my hero because he continued to honor his obligation to serve our country after the death of his brother Sgt Matthew Bohling in Ramadi, Iraq on 9-5-05. My husband had the option of leaving the Army but stayed in because his desire to our freedom and security was so great. We are currently stationed at Fort Wainwright, Alaska and my husband is a 63 bravo all wheel vehicle mechanic. The photo I submitted is of us at his brother’s memorial at Ft. Benning, Georgia. – Kristy Bohling - Fort Wainwright, Alaska Posted by: Salute to Troops October 16, 2008

This is our Salute to OUR hero, 1SG Sam Hower, serving his 2nd tour to Iraq, currently with the 139th Field Artillery, part of the Indiana National Guard. Sam & I have been married 16 years, we have 2 sons, our youngest serving in Iraq as I write this, both having served tours in Iraq, and 2 daughters. He is a wonderful example of what each of us should strive to be. He has always put others needs before his own, whether his troops, his co-workers, his friends or family. He gives everything in him 24/7. He is a caring hands on son, a shinning example of what all husbands should strive to be, an exceptional hands on father, step father and grandpa. He is and has always been PROUD to serve his country and we are proud to be his family!! – Cheri Hower - Goshen, Indiana Posted by: Salute to Troops |
