This won't break us

Tony has been my boyfriend now for a few years. He's one of the most respectable and caring people I know, which are only a few reasons why I love him.

I've always supported him in the decisions he's made. We just celebrated our one-year anniversary in September. It was hard not being with him on that day.

He's due to be deployed to Afghanistan at the end of this month, which should be the ultimate test of our relationship. But I have no doubts that this will break us.

Everyone in both of our families loves him and greatly appreciates him for what he does.

I want to solute you today and I want to let you know that we are here for you. I wanted to join the Marines myself but due to my visual problems I could not do so. I was so sad and frustrated when I did not get accepted. I wanted to be a Marine but I couldn't. I support your mission all the way and I just want to thank you for your service. I wish I could also be like you, a Marine, but God has other plans for me. May the lord and his angels protect you and your family and my prayers are with you all the way. Thank you very much and may God bless you exceedingly.

We cannot assuage this nation’s pain which so many have feared over the recent sacrifice of the troops at Ft. Hood. To be a helpless target for a deranged member of such a stellar unit that has given so much of themselves is unthinkable. Wave after wave of sorrow enfolds us all in a mantle of tears. Even everyone who has served in combat, or who has been over there in the Eastern conflicts and returned safely was vulnerable. This enviable base full of our nation’s finest has suffered a tragic loss. There is wave after wave of wrenching hearts realizing these warriors have succumbed to a mindless killer. Rest well all ye who have fallen, we will not soon forget the freedoms you protected with your precious blood!
