May 10, 2010 Salute to SFC. A.G. Weaver IIIPosted: 07:44 AM ET
This salute is is from Marilyn Weaver to her husband Sergeant First Class Alfred Weaver, U.S. ARMY. My name is Marilyn Weaver; I salute My husband SFC A.G. Weaver III, An Army Reservist with 30+ years of Military service. He is currently serving in Qalat, Afghanistan. He has been there since October 2008, he has two functions, guarding the COE(Corp of Engineers) while they travel to construction sites building roads, clinics, Police headquarters and Afghan Army bases etc, he is also the Construction Inspector for the Corps office there in Qalat. He does a lot of joking around, just to share a smile. He feels [that] to make a person laugh takes them away from their personal troubles even for a short time. You know laughter is a tremendous stress reliever. His passion is fishing and singing Karaoke. We miss and love him very much. He does not feel he's a hero but to this little family he is. He is coming home for 14 little days from May 10-24, it is our anniversary May 10th this is also the day we took custody of our now nine-year-old granddaughter who is the sunshine in our lives. I salute him and all Service Members, their unselfish service is truly appreciated and admired and all are heroes. I also wish to salute the family members of those serving. This salute is from Amie Polanco to her husband Command Master Chief Tony Polanco, U.S. Navy. Good Morning Robin, This is such a wonderful spot that you do. I think it's really great that you and [HLN] show your thanks and support to our wonderful troops. I am saluting my husband CMDCM (Command Master Chief) Tony Polanco who is currently in Afghanistan on his 5th deployment. This deployment is especially hard for him because he is missing our daughter’s college graduation and our son’s high school graduation. He deployed with 1st MARDIV (Marine Division) out of Camp Pendleton, CA for 1 year after transferring from Camp Lejeune, NC a mere 28 days earlier. We all love and miss him very much but we are so, so proud of him. Thank you so much See all of your Salutes here. Upload your Salute to Troops at CNN iReport! This salute is from Elaine Higuera to her husband Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Higuera, U.S. Air Force. On June 4, 2010, my husband, USAF LtCol Anthony Higuera retires from active duty with 26 years, 5 months and 10 days of service to our country. As his wife, I couldn't be more proud of him. He is an amazing husband and father and truly epitomizes the phrase 'An officer and a gentleman.' He takes pride in giving 100% effort to every endeavor from coaching mini soccer to commanding a USAF unit in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He leaves behind a trail of accomplishments too long to list but is most proud of mentoring young service members to pursue their dreams and prepare for their futures. He is an avid fly fisherman and outdoorsman. We are moving to Missoula, Montana where A River Runs Through It was set! Tony, My Love, congratulations! Thank you for your service, your sacrifices, and your commitment. Your family adores you. We are looking forward to beginning the next chapter together in this amazing adventure, as you retire from the Air Force but certainly not from life. See all of your Salutes here. This salute was shot at Hartsfield-Jackson airport as Troops were returning home from various locations but mostly from Afghanistan and Iraq. This is part of the USO Meet and Greet program where volunteers see between 500 and 900 troops go through the airport each day. Volunteers and often families welcome weary military travelers with a place to rest and the ability to familiarize themselves with their new surroundings. In this salute Mary Lou Gimenez greets her husband Army Specialist Choic (pronounced Choice) Gimenez who had just returned from Iraq. He is stationed at Walter Reed and she is a nurse at that hospital. See all of your Salutes here. Upload your Salute to Troops at CNN iReport! Filed under: Salute to Troops |
