Salute to Troops: Sgt. Robert Sickels, U.S. Army

Posted: 08:31 AM ET

This is a salute from Arielle Sickels of New Philadelphia, Ohio to her husband Sergeant Robert Sickels, U.S. Army.

Arielle writes:
A lot of people join the military and don’t take pride in it, and some people do. My husband is one of the ones that do. He is a combat engineer in the US Army and has been in almost 7. Our one year anniversary will be on February 12, 2011 and although I wish he could be with me for it, I can’t help but think about how excited I am to have many more to come! Also, our son's first birthday will be [in May] 2011 which he will also miss. My husband has been around our son for about 2 month’s total. Being a father was so new to him but when he came home for R&R, it was like he fell right into place and knew exactly how to be such a great one! He is making so many sacrifices for our family and for millions around the US and I don’t think I could ever be more proud!
