Welcome Home Sgt. 1st Class Mark McBurney

Posted: 10:26 AM ET

This salute was shot at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Where Sgt. 1st Class Mark McBurney, Jr., U.S. Army, was arriving home after being deployed for a year in Afghanistan. His 5-year-old daughter Alyssa thought she was there to greet her Aunt... but just watch her face when she recognizes it's her Dad she's really there to welcome home.

Salute to Corpsman Jeremiah (Doc) Harrold

Posted: 11:43 AM ET

This salute is from Carissa Harrold her husband Hospital Corpsman (HM3) Jeremiah “Doc” Harrold.

Carrisa writes:
I just wanted to send a shout out to my husband, HM3 (FMF) Jeremiah Harrold and tell him how proud I am of him. "Doc" is a truly amazing man, and has been through so much in the service of our country. Like many of our other men and women serving, my husband is a wounded warrior. He is so strong in facing the pain and frustration of his injuries with a positive attitude, and has no regrets about his choice to serve our country. It's hard as a spouse to watch the person you love in pain, and if I could, I would endure time apart for future deployments if it meant that he was pain-free. I salute him for his sacrifice and the strength with which he faces each and every day. Thank you for protecting our freedom and making the world a safer place for our daughter to grow up. Doc, you are a wonderful dad and an amazing man, and I feel privileged to share my life with you!

Salute to 1LT Dana Currier

Posted: 07:15 AM ET

It seems that usually salutes come from Mothers to Children, or wives to husbands... but it's pretty rare that we get a salute from kids to their deployed mother! Here's what Britany Summers has to say on iReport about her Army mom:

My mother is a 1LT in the United States Army and currently is deployed, she is a Bridge Engineer and has been in the army since I can remember. She is a wonderful mother of 5 children, 16-year-old twin girls Katlyn and Kayla, 20-year-old twin boys Tim and Kourtney and me Britany im 22 years old and she also has two grandkids by me, 3-year-old Dayana and 1-year-old D'Mtri that miss their grandma very much. She has been married my dad 1LT Michael Currier for almost 18 years and she is a very hard-working dedicated woman, mother, wife, and soldier. We miss her so much and we want to let her know that we are proud of her, we think about her all the time and we are all constantly counting down the days until she comes home.
