![]() Jacqueline Oakley and her husband Sergeant Major Glendon Oakley, U.S. Army. My name is Jacqueline Oakley (Jackie O). My husband's name is Sergeant Major Glendon Oakley, U.S. Army who is deployed in Iraq for the second time with the HHC 15th Sustainment Brigade, 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary)at Ft. Hood, Texas. My husband will have over 30 years in active duty when he redeploys to Ft. Hood, Texas. He considered retiring this summer but after talking with his Brigade commander (Colonel Phelps), he decided to deploy one last time to support his team and the U.S. Army. My husband just celebrated his 51st birthday on September 24th, and I mailed him a birthday card right before he left which he received a day before. He sent me an email stating, "Wow, I'm getting old ... can't believe I'm 50!" I replied back with, "Babe, I know this is not the time to send bad news but you are 51!!! LOL!" I love this man with all my heart. He is a super trooper! I pray for his and every soldiers’ safe return. - Jacqueline Oakley See all of your Salutes here. ![]() Klay, Konnor and Kylie Abele. My husband Klay Matthew Abele is a Sergeant E-5 in the US Army Reserves from the 363rd Military Police unit out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is almost 23 yrs old, his birthday we will miss while he is overseas, is December 31. Before he was activated, Klay was a film student at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh where he studied Digital Media Production. He was an outstanding student, with drive and ambition. After classes he was also a devoted father to our 10 month old son Konnor, whom he adores! On a side note, Klay will miss all of the firsts a normal family would get to experience; he will miss Konnor's first steps and first crawls, Konnor's first birthday and also our first wedding anniversary. Aside from his family life, he is an adventurous soldier and has never complained about his commitment in the Reserves. As a child he was always playing with GI Joe's. And now, he lives out his childhood dream as a soldier. He is also a HUGE fan to the 2009 6-time Super-bowl Champs Pittsburgh Steelers & the 2009 Stanley Cup Winners Pittsburgh Penguins. Although their unit has just deployed, we continue to miss him more and more with each day. We pray every day that our soldier & the rest of all the men and woman serving our country, return safely to their loved ones. - Kylie Abele See all of your Salutes here. ![]() Crystal Ogo and her husband Private First Class Kevin Ogo and their son Noah. "I just want to salute my soldier for the courage and dedication he has shown to his country and to his family. I don't think people understand the difficulties that military families face when a loved one is sent to fight in a war. Its really scary and stressful not only for the soldier but the family left behind. Kevin and I have been married for a year and due to the Army life and trainings have only lived together for 4 months out of that year, Kevin deployed when I was seven months pregnant ... he missed the birth of our son by a few hours (even though he was heading home on leave) because there were no available flights in to NY that day and no one was willing to give up their seat ... when he didn’t make it for the birth he was heartbroken, due to his deployment he has missed our 1 year anniversary, celebrating his 21st birthday and my birthday. He will miss most of our son's first milestones and he will miss Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am looking forward to bringing in the New Year because Kevin will finally be home in 2010 and my new year’s resolution is to celebrate everyday with my husband and our family. My husband is an amazing man and is loved by everyone that knows him, because of how much he has sacrificed already ... it's not enough that he is risking his life everyday for our country he loves and values our family so much! It is only 132 days till I can hold my husband and see his face instead of talking to him through the computer screen. I’m so excited for this deployment to finally be over and for our family to be whole again!" - Crystal Ogo See all of your Salutes here. Upload your Salute to Troops at iReport.com! ![]() Amber Madore to her husband Gunnery Sgt Richard Madore. My husband GySgt Richard Madore is currently serving 13 months in Iraq and has been in the Marine Corps for 18 years. Rich is the guy that will stand up for what he believes and what he thinks is right. We have missed many special events together in the past 7 months from our one year wedding anniversary to birthdays and to the up and coming holidays. I am so proud of what Rich has accomplished with his career in the Marine Corps and I know the he has many more wonderful years left serving his country. Seven months down eight more to go, that is the topic of conversation when family members and friends call to check on me. I am a Marine Corps wife and my husband is deployed. My every day life consists of a routine, everyone told me 'keep busy' and 'find things to occupy your time'. This is my first deployment and most likely not my last. Everything in conversations with people have turned into 'me' and 'I'. There is no 'we' and 'us' right now. Yes I am missing out on all the great things you experience in your first year of marriage, but I am also experiencing the pride that I have for my husband and my country more than I would of if I was not in this position. Phone calls and e-mails are a dime a dozen, and the worry that I had when he first left has eased. Knowing that my husband loves his job and his country is what gets me through each day on the calendar. It all comes down to learning to live life a new way why he is gone and 'keeping myself busy'. It is a different way to live life, but I would never want to be anything but a Marine Corps Wife. - Amber Madore See all of your Salutes here. Upload your Salute to Troops at iReport.com!
